Human beings are remarkable for their ability to remember and reason, and therefore to comprehend the circumstances of another without self experience. And yet, for this remarkable ability to remember and reason we human beings will never truely understand each other. Our comprehension remains just short of complete because of our individual memories and interpretations. This makes everyone alone, and this global communal "alone-ness" is the tragedy of human kind.

i dont think it is the tragedy in human life. it is rather the gift bestowed.but nobody realises it... and think it is necessary not to be alone
Knowing cc I think it's the ironey of Communal aloneness- oxymoron thing! It's not that one being alone is a bad thing; it's the fact that we can never truely understand another despite wanting to- thus we are alone and that is a tragedy.cc's talking of complete understanding and unision- right? origins of these thoughts? you were at "home"?

acx: maybe not a tragedy but a reality. the question in my mind is really can we put aside "you" and "i" and create something bigger- a new entity that is worth striving for? an "us". or is it like conrad's truism "we live as we dream; alone."?
anon 1: yes it was about the ironey :) and i was "home" and felt renewed. the atmosphere of passion, sense, honesty-its like light i can't help absorbing it. the post was post a long conversation. it's wonderful to have people like that in your life. it will always be like coming back home no matter what happens. peace is the fan running with it's noise (comfort) and light-and sense! i had almost forgotten... peace:)

I agree with the irony of life.. for its the tragic reality we all never want to understand..For all of us are just LONELY in the mob called WORLD...

Me thinks a persistent desire to know another (or a 'thing') and the impossibility of fulfilling such a desire to fully comprehend the person (or thing) - the psychology/sociology of which you have already described, and the physical science of which humanity is struggling to grasp since the discovery of the 'principle of uncertainty' only in the past century - is perhaps the singularly most beautiful configuration of the human condition because it leads mankind (/woman kind/us-kind) onwards in pursuit of love to fulfil our hearts and ever greater knowledge to fulfil our minds...
If i may re-phrase (possibly the longest sentence I have written in 3 years)
...it leads mankind (/woman kind/us-kind) onwards and unravels our hearts hearts to a deeper appreciation of love and expands the bounds of the known our minds and makes us humble - with greater respect for the unknown... and inspires us in our laboures (and exhilratates us with the rewards) of new and truer discovery of ourselves, of our loved ones, and of the beauty and mystery of the world around us.
